So what has Towel been up to today?
I'm trying to do something creative every day!

Hangin' Around
I think there's something wrong with Blogger, I can't upload any pictures except this one! It's probably just as well, I only have pictures of around the house, as I am doing a good impression of a useless fat hermit!

Chocco cupcakes
Hmmm I'm not being very creative at the moment am I? But I like to think that the many different ways I find to haul my massive body around are quite creative.

Percy bag
This didn't turn out as sturdy as planned, maybe it needs a lining or something. I also wonder if it will fray... But it's made out of what I think was a tablecloth/throw(?) and I used a beady belt for the strap, which is so much easier than making a strap, yay! I like this plan, and will keep an eye out for nice belts in future!
I love the colours. A bit Autumny, like today.

Dog poo Fingers
I really want to sew! But my hands! It turns out kneading makes them feel better, so I made more biscuits. Chocolatey ones which looked a little bit like dog poos. Lovely huh?!
Do you realise that I also eat all of these things..? Munter. Maybe the cat flap installer man will get a look in today...

You tart!
Due to electrical difficulties (and perhaps a little human error) we had a ton of defrosted pastry to use up today.
Cue beef-wellington stylee things and jam tarts. Mmm...

Daisy cake
Had a bit of a bad day with the old hands yesterday, and sewing is defo off the cards for now! But I do have a hand-made splint by hubby which is at least allowing me some sleep! Treat for today is cupcakes filled with jam, and topped with a daisy! And now I'm going to sit down with one, and a cuppa! Mmmm...

Cake purse
Ok so Cake has a zip, a pocket and even a little hook handle thing... oh yeah. He came up a bit small though. Maybe one day I'll be able to minimalise my make-up into a tiny bag like this...
I really need to buy some different coloured cotton.
This one is called "Cake" not because you carry cake in it (you probably could though) but because it's brown and reminded me of a cake I ate in Vietnam called "Brown cake". Sounded dodgy but I still ate it.

Felt Up
I hate to post something when it's nowhere near done, but I am starting to wonder if I will ever get back to my psychedelic midnight garden as my fingers are still numb 12 hours later... hmmm....
Bobby buttons on no sleep
3am start today with the carpal tunnel- ow! Ok so I started an applique type of project, aiming for some psychedelic flowers etc, but my hands hurt so much I had to stop! So that's on its way, something that was a bit easier to do was decorate this wobbly glass with some buttons... a little vase maybe?

Harold handbag
Is it a bit weird to name things? Oh well. Harold used to be on an apron but I made a bag and sewed him onto it, along with some star buttons. I need to work on fastenings... might put some poppers on Harold.

Bang.
Well!
My excuse for not being up to scratch on the second day of blogging is that the electrics in my house all went! So I have had no toys to play with all morning while the men in hard hats dig up the road outside!
I have one egg (we shall call him Ed) in the fridge with some kind of exciting destiny for later... but for now I'm just going to post this picture of the lovely flowers my mother-in-law brought round today!

make-up bag
My postman is nuts. But he managed to work out who "Nic, Ian, Phoebe and Flannel" are when trying to deliver a postcard from my mum with no house number on it! He has been the only visitor to the house today and I must say I'm enjoying the peace and cracking on with fiddly bits!
Made this little bag out of bits of an old top. I am learning that I should probably take my time and do things properly, for example:

- stop being lazy and change the cotton colour
- measure things
- undo the zip before sewing- duh!
- straight lines are a good idea.
My new toy
Wow my new toy is fun! But it has taken a little while and a lot of patience to set it up and thread the needle! Once I'd managed that I was up for instant gratification and sewed an old napkin and some felt together to make a padded case for my new phone! Then VERY crudely sewed a button on the top. Now how can I make this look pretty...?

Post numero uno!
Here we go! It's 4 in the morning and I have been woken up by my dead, tingling hands (a glorious side-effect of pregnancy I was completely unaware of until now) and what better task to give myself than setting up a blog?
I have been meaning to crack on with creative projects for a long time, so perhaps if I make myself update this bad boy every day with pictures and details of what I've been up to then it might actually give me a kick up the bum! Now, by creative projects I mean things like sewing, cooking, crafting, and stuff like that. Stuff I am not particularly skilled at, but hope to develop, and stuff that I love! One thing I am perhaps better at, and put a lot of practice into, is bargain hunting! Or "sourcing", perhaps we could call it. I love love love scouring charity shops, vintage/antique shops, ebay, small ads, you name it, for unusual and bargainous bits and pieces which are either fabulous as they are, or can be used to create something beautiful.
It's this creating part which I need to work on. So I have a brand new sewing machine to figure out tomorrow, and shedloads of scraps of material and "treasures" to help me in my creative quest! What will I make? Will I succeed? Is this a good idea at all with my currently useless hands? We shall find this all out tomorrow my pretties, but for now, sleep, and dreams of shiny buttons...
